Butler to Star in Escape Remake
300 star Gerard Butler will likely be headlining a remake of John Carpenter's 1981 action classic Escape From New York. He would play lead character Snake Plissken, a one-eyed convict who is tasked with breaking into a "inescapable" maximum security prison - formerly known as Manhattan - to free the U.S. president. Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down) will write the screenplay and Neal Moritz would produce. Kurt Russell originally starred as Plissken, as well as in the 1996 sequel Escape to L.A.
