Scorsese May Direct Hugo Cabret
Warner Bros. and Graham King's Initial Entertainment Group have obtained the film rights to author Brian Selznick's children's novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Martin Scorsese may direct it and John Logan will write the script; which would reteam Scorsese with the creative unit behind his 2004 film The Aviator. The book was published last month and is about a 12 year-old orphan who lives in the walls of a Paris train station circa 1930. There is also a mystery involving the boy, his late father and a robot. Paramount Pictures also has the right to own half of the project, based on a first-look deal that Scorses recently signed with the company.
