Overture Rides Theron's Wheel
Overture Films has acquired the U.S. rights to producer and star Charlize Theron's drama Ferris Wheel. The story is about a poor mother (Theron) lost in the wrong crowd who abandons her daughter (AnnaSophia Robb) and leaves her with her brother (Nick Stahl). The girl soon develops a bond with her uncle. Dennis Hopper plays the father of Theron's character and Woody Harrelson is one of her troubled friends. Bill Maher directed in his feature debut and Zac Stanford (The Chumbscrubber) wrote the script. Overture bought the rights at the Sundance Film Festival, although the movie was not actually shown there.
