Remake of TV Movie About Heisman Winner
Something for Joey, a 1977 TV movie about the relationship between Heisman Trophy winner John Cappelletti and his sick brother, is being remade into a feature film. Scott Williams (The Express) and Bo Eason are writing the script. Cappelletti won the award in 1973 as a tailback at Penn State. He drew strength and inspiration that year from his sick 11 year-old brother Joey, who had leukemia and was undergoing chemotherapy. At the awards ceremony, Cappelletti dedicated the Heisman to Joey, who died just three years later. In the original TV movie, Marc Singer played the role of John and Jeff Lynas was Joey.
