Hayek to Star in Spanish Comedy
Salma Hayek will star in and produce La Banda, a Spanish-language romantic comedy. The actress will take the role of a wealthy Mexican housewife who faces hard times after her husband leaves. But she finds a job as the singer in a wedding band. She tries to keep the gig a secret from her high-society friends, however this gets much harder to do as the band gains popularity. The film will center on Grupero music. It will be Hayek's first Spanish-language role in Mexico since her breakout in telenovelas earlier in her career. Issa Lopez is writing and directing the feature.
