National Lampoon's Comedy About Halloween
National Lampoon, the label behind such iconic comedies as Animal House and Vacation, recently announced plans to begin inhouse production of feature films. In the past the company, which used to publish the magazine of the same name, would lend out its name but was not involved in the development or production of movies. One of its first efforts (along with Half Shell Entertainment) will be The Last Night in October, a comedy to be written by Robbie Chafitz. The story will move away from typical Halloween horror, but is instead described as a Dazed and Confused-style ensemble about suburban paranoia. When a thumbtack is found in a candybar, hysteria ensues and the town declares war on Halloween.
