L.A. Riots will be a Spike Lee Joint
Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment are developing a drama based on the racially charged April 1992 Los Angeles riots. L.A. Riots will be a Spike Lee joint, with John Ridley (Undercover Brother) writing the script and Brian Grazer producing. The riots started after the acquittal, by a mostly white jury, of four white police officers who were videotaped beating Rodney King. Thousands of people suffered injuries, 55 people were killed, and the city saw close to $1 billion in damages. The goal is to have the script completed very soon, and shooting to begin next year.
