Magnolia Resuscitates Black Tiger
Nearly six years after it originally debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001, Magnolia Pictures has acquired the rights to Thai western Tears of the Black Tiger from Miramax. From writer-director Wisit Sasanatieng, the film is set in Thailand in the 1950s and was shot using bright colors and many stylized action scenes. Magnolia will release the film in New York in January, followed by a limited national rollout.
