Bress to script The Alchemyst

Eric Bress (The Butterfly Effect, Final Destination) will write The Alchemyst for New Line Cinema. The movie is an adaptation of the fantasy book series The Immortal Nicholas Flamel, by Michael Scott. The story looks at some teenage fraternal twins who become caught up in the everlasting battle between good and evil. New to the battle, the travel America as they learn the ancient ways of magic, encountering creatures from the mythologies of dozens of nations along the way. Nicholas Flamel, a 600-year-old man who looks 50 in appearance, is their mentor.

New Line to Develop Immortal Fantasy

New Line Cinema has obtained the rights to author Michael Scott's fantasy book series The Immortal Nicholas Flamel. The Alchemysts is the first title in the series, which will be published next May. Mark Burnett (reality shows Survivor and The Apprentice) will produce the movie, in what the studio hopes will turn into a six-picture deal. In the story, two teenage twins end up in the middle of an exciting adventure when legendary alcehmist Nicholas Flamel loses his book that holds dangerous secrets. If the book ends up in the wrong hands, these secrets could end up being the very end of humanity.
