Binder joins Club
Mike Binder (Reign Over Me) is set to adapt the Kate Jacobs novel The Friday Night Knitting Club for Universal Pictures. Julia Roberts will star in the movie, which will have her playing a single mother who has to balance her ownership of a knitting store with raising a teenage daughter. Regular customers join together at the store once a week to share knitting ideas as well as discuss life in general. They are joined together when a tragedy occurs.

Julia Takes Up Knitting
Julia Roberts will headline The Friday Night Knitting Club, a family drama for Universal Pictures. She will star as a single mom who tries to balance running her Manhattan knitting store while also raising her teenage daughter. Once a week her regular store customers gather to knit and chat, but when tragedy strikes the group, they realize that they are more than just a simple club. Roberts will also produce the film along with Christine Peters. She next stars along with Tom Hanks and Philip Seymour Hoffman in Mike Nichols' Charlie Wilson's War.
