Theron and Others to Protest in Seattle
Charlize Theron will headline the cast of The Battle in Seattle, an ensemble drama from writer and first-time director Stuart Townsend. Others set to star include Andre Benjamin (a.k.a. rapper Andre 3000), Martin Henderson, Woody Harrelson and Ray Liotta. The story is a political action drama set against the 1999 World Trade Organization meeting in Seattle. During the meeting, thousands of protesters turned a peaceful protest into a full-blown riot and emergency. The National Guard was brought in to ease the situation. Like Crash, and the upcoming Bobby, The Battle in Seattle will use interlocking pieces to tell the broader story from a number of perspectives, including protesters, pedestrians, politicos, police and WTO delegates.
