Jackson to Produce Dambusters
Peter Jackson will produce Dambusters, the story based on real-life events about Operation Chastise, a top-secret Royal Air Force bombing mission in 1943 during World War II. In the mission, a group of airmen flew Lancaster bombers deep into Germany at treetop level and used special bombs to destroy three dams that were crucial to the Nazi steel industry. The film will mark the directing debut of Christian Rivers, who served as Jackson's animation director on King Kong. The story is based on the book, The Dam Busters, by Paul Brickhill, as well as a 1954 British film.
