Universal Buys Blood
Universal Pictures and the Kennedy/Marshall Co. have bought Matthew Sand's script for American by Blood, based on Andrew Huebner's 2000 novel. Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce the film, about three U.S. Army scouts who are the first to arrive at the aftermath of the Battle of Little Bighorn. The trio then take on the rigorous task of tracking down Crazy Horse, the Sioux leader. The novel was originally optioned by Kennedy for Steven Spielberg to direct, but the option expired after several drafts failed to work out.
