Untitled and Picture Team on Fury
Untitled Entertainment will team with Picture Entertainment Corp. to develop another adaptation of William Faulkner's literary classic The Sound and the Fury. W. Merritt Johnson has been hired to adapt the story, originally published in 1929. It follows the tale of the Compson family from Mississippi, who have fallen on hard times. The book is structured in four parts, told through the eyes of the family's three brothers and a servant. The brothers are obsessed with their black sheep sister, who was kicked out of the house for her behavior. A previous film version was released in 1959, directed by Martin Ritt and starring Yul Brynner and Joanne Woodward.
