Sony Finds Itself With a Curse
Sony Pictures Classics has bought the North American film rights to Curse of the Golden Flower. The Chinese film is directed by Zhang Yimou, who also helmed the successful House of Flying Daggers. Chow Yun-Fat (Bulletproof Monk; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and Gong Li (Memoirs of a Geisha) star. The martial-arts flavored romantic story is a medieval tale of a dysfunctional royal family where the king and queen have power struggles with their sons and with each other.
