Universal Gets Misdemeanor for Bio
Universal Pictures is planning on bringing the story of rapper Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott to the big screen. The studio acquired the untitled biopic after a pitch from writer Dianne Houston. Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal will both serve as producers through Tribeca Films, in addition to Elliott's manager Mona Scott. The singer got her break in the music business with girl group Sista, before moving on to a producing career. Finally, she made it on her own as a solo artist more than 10 years ago. She previously worked with Universal before in Honey, starring Jessica Alba.
