New Line goes to Battle
In a move that concerns BOP to some degree, New Line has purchased remake rights to the marvelous Japanese film Battle Royale. That movie was produced by Toie and based on a book by Koushun Takami, the movie was set in a dystopian future where a class of students is selected to be sent to an island where they will battle for their very lives. All are given varying weapons with which to carry out their mission, and the last person standing is the winner. There are flies in the ointment, however, as some of the students aren't so keen on simply following the government's plan. Whether the New Line project is a good idea or not, both the movie and the book on which it is based are highly recommended.
