Wild Things reunite
John McNaughton is set to direct Backstabbers from a screenplay by Stephen Peters. The two previously collaborated on the 1998 thriller Wild Things. That film starred Denise Richards, Neve Campbell, Matt Dillon and Kevin Bacon. Richards and Campbell are in talks to re-team for Backstabbers, which will be a sexy tale about a rich New Yorker who plans to have his wife kidnapped, but is unaware that he will be double-crossed by his mistress and bodyguard. The movie is not being billed as a sequel to Wild Things, which already had a direct-to-video follow-up in Wild Things 2.
