Singleton to adapt Clancy thriller
John Singleton has signed to adapt the Tom Clancy espionage thriller Without Remorse for Paramount Pictures. The movie would center on former Navy SEAL and CIA operative John Kelly, code named Mr. Clark. That character first appeared in Clear and Present Danger, where he was played by Willem Dafoe. Without Remorse was published in 1993 and was once in the process of being adapted in 1995, but was shut down during pre-production. Singleton is hoping to keep the film in line with the Phillip Noyce-directed Clancy thrillers Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger.
