Raimi gets new project
Sam Raimi is set to direct The Wee Free Men for Sony Pictures Entertainment. Based on the bestselling young adult novel from Terry Pratchett, the story is centered on a nine-year-old farm girl who goes to a parallel world in order to save a brother who has been kidnapped by an evil fairy queen. She fights the Fairyland monsters with a group of six-inch-tall fellows with Scottish accents, blue faces and kilts. Also, the little guys steal sheep and drink heavily. The screenplay will be handled by Pamela Pettler, who also co-wrote scripts for Tim Burton's Corpse Bride and Monster House.
