Blige to star in Biopic

Mary J. Blige will star in an untitled Nina Simone biopic for Paramount Pictures and MTV Films. Simone became a famous singer in the '60s with protest anthems like Mississippi Goddam" and "To Be Young, Gifted, and Black". Eventually, she went into exile in Paris, where she died in 2003.
