Paramount Postpones Ripley's
Paramount Pictures has decided to postpone production on the feature film of Ripley's Believe It or Not. The movie was to star Jim Carrey, with Tim Burton as the director. The studio cited a rising budget, which had increased to about $150 million. Also, Carrey and Burton wanted to make major creative changes. The delay will be at least a year, while Burton works on Sweeney Todd for Paramount.

Carrey, Burton to team for Paramount pic
Jim Carrey will star in an as yet untitled biopic about the life of Robert Ripley for Paramount Pictures. Tim Burton will direct the tentpole picture from a screenplay by Ed Wood scripters Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander. Ripley was the newspaperman/explorer who created Ripley's Believe It Or Not. The movie is set right as Ripley is gaining fame for a Believe It Or Not column that chronicles the greatest oddities on the planet.
The movie is looking at a late 2007 release.
