Paramount at a Loss
Paramount will produce and distribute director Kimberly Peirce's Stop-Loss, a drama about the controversial statute used by the U.S. Defense Department to extend the time soldiers serve in combat. The story centers on a soldier who arrives home in Texas after spending time in Iraq, but is quickly recalled to duty on the "stop-loss" procedure. He refuses to return. Peirce has not directed a film since Boys Don't Cry. She co-wrote the screenplay for Stop-Loss with Mark Richard.
