Universal gets its Wish
Universal Pictures has acquired Jason Lethcoe's upcoming children's book Tales from the Wishworks Factory and plans to turn it into a big screen tentpole. One of Lethcoe's previous books, Zoom's Academy, was adapted into a movie by Revolution Studios and will be released in 2006. Tales from the Wishworks Factory centers on a magical bureaucracy that grants wishes - but only if proper procedure is followed. For example, eyes must be closed, no one must be told what the wish is, and so forth. When a child successfully is able to wish for unlimited wishes, a battle is set into motion between the Wishworks and their arch-rivals the Curseworks.
