Palm Pictures stays at Motel
Palm Pictures has acquired distribution rights to The Motel, which premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. The movie marked the directorial debut for Michael Kang and featured primarily Asian-American actors. The cast includes Jeffrey Chyau, Sung Kang and Jade Wu. The story centers on 13-year-old Ernest Chin (Chyau), who lives and works at a sleazy hotel on a desolate highway. He is neglected by his own family and contending with the changes that come with puberty all on his own. Soon, he befriends motel denizen Sam Kim (Kang), a self-destructive Korean-American who teaches young Ernest all the rites of manhood.
