Paramount to do Roosevelt biopic
Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to Pulitzer Prize winning Edmund Morris book The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt. The movie is set to be a directing vehicle for Martin Scorsese, with plans in place for Leonardo DiCaprio to star as Roosevelt. Nicholas Meyer is writing the screenplay, which looks at the 26th U.S. president's formative years. During that time frame, he was able to reinvent himself from a privileged but slight New York politician with a degree from Harvard to the buff and powerful leader of the Rough Riders. Eventually, he would become governor of New York, and then was vice president under William McKinley. When McKinley was assassinated, Roosevelt moved up to the presidency.
