Warner Bros. gets a Yakuza
Warner Bros. is set to remake the 1975 movie The Yakuza, with Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell attached to write the screenplay. The original film was directed by Sydney Pollack and starred Robert Mitchum as a man who goes back to Japan after a long absence so that he can save the kidnapped daughter of a friend. The result, of course, is a battle of samurai swords and guns. Paul Schrader and Robert Towne wrote the screenplay. The updated film will be set in the current day and will feature a more multi-ethnic Japan.
