Kaye has Paranoia

Tony Kaye, the British director who became a Hollywood outcast after battling with New Line Cinema over American History X, has signed to helm the indie thriller Paranoia. The movie will center on an advertising agency executive who arrives at work on Friday, but learns it is actually Sunday and also that she is a suspect in a murder case. She finds some clues in her handbag and tries to put the events of the last two days back together. The story is said to have a twist ending a la The Sixth Sense. John Land wrote the screenplay. Kaye became fairly notorious in 1998 after losing control over the end cut of American History X. He asked that his name be taken off the film and replaced with "Humpty Dumpty" and also placed some angry newspaper ads. Eventually, he showed up at New Line with a rabbi, a priest and a Buddhist monk to plead his case. He later apologized for his actions, saying that he had been intimidated by the studio system and became an "emotional cripple" as he filmed American History X.
