Bluesman headed for big screen
Lori Silverbush is set to direct Bluesman, a coming-of-age drama adapted from the novel by Andre Dubus III (House of Sand and Fog). Michael Burkhardt wrote the screenplay, which centers on a 17-year-old who is experiencing his first love during a summer that is set against the Vietnam War as it rages. He's also struggling to communicate with his father, who is consumed with a personal grief. They are able to communicate via the music of the blues. Silverbush earlier won the grand jury prize and audience award at Slamdance for On the Outs.
