WeinsteinCo. gets new Jaa film
The WeinsteinCo. is set to distribute Tom Yum Goong, the newest film from Thai martial arts star Tony Jaa (Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior). The movie was written, directed and produced by Prachya Pinkaew, who also worked on Ong Bak along with Jaa. The movie centers on Jaa, a fighter who has gone to Australia to retrieve some stolen elephants that belong to the Thai king. He partners with a detective from Oz as they try to break the case open. Ong Bak, which was distributed in North America earlier this year by Magnolia Pictures, grossed $4.6 million.
