Ford, Salles and Rivera go On the Road
Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope is partnering with Focus Features to develop a movie adaptation of the Jack Kerouac classic On the Road. Walter Salles and Jose Rivera, who previously partnered together on the film version of The Motorcycle Diaries, will direct and write the screenplay, respectively. The Kerouac book is a thinly fictionalized autobiography about his hitchhiking journey across the United States with Neal Cassady. Coppola has had the rights to the book for almost 40 years.
