New Line acquired Ex Machina
New Line Cinema has acquired the rights to the critically acclaimed comic book Ex Machina from its creators Brian Vaughan and Tony Harris. The book is published by DC Comics' Wildstorm division and is a political thriller that looks at a man with superpowers who realizes that he can better serve humanity by going into politics. In fact, he becomes the mayor of New York. From there, the comic looks at such issues as 9/11 and gay marriage. Two versions of the screenplay are being prepared. Vaughan is writing one version, and Glen Brunswick, who was co-creator of the comic book The Gray Area, will work on the other.
