Kidd goes Urban
Warner Bros has acquired rights to the Ethan Watters book Urban Tribes, and has set Dylan Kidd (Roger Dodger) to direct the drama. Kidd will co-write the screenplay with Ira Glass, host of NPR's American Life. Glass has a production deal with the studio that allows him to become involved in movies that evolve from topics on the show. The book examines people between 25-39 who don't get married, but instead form close friendships that serve as their families instead. In the movie, a young man attempts to curb his girlfriend's desire to get married by "discovering" this trend, saying that he believes it to be the hip new alternative to commitment. She accompanies him on a research trip, determined to prove that his notions are idiotic and that he should marry her.
