Gernon will direct Franco
Ed Gernon is set to direct Franco for Fortress Entertainment and Liberty Films. The movie will be based on the Oliver Sacks non-fiction book An Anthropologist on Mars. The book tells the story of the gifted, though mentally troubled, Italian painter Franco Magnani. The man is driven to almost perfectly photographically recreate the city of his Tuscan childhood, which had been destroyed 20 years in the past. The screenplay was written by Clancy Sigal (Frida) and Janice Tidwell.
