Director set for Dark Crystal sequel
The Jim Henson Co. has hired Genndy Tartakovsky to direct Power of the Dark Crystal, a sequel to the 1982 fantasy The Dark Crystal. Tartakovsky created the animated series Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory and Star Wars: Clone Wars. The movie will be set hundreds of years after the events of the first film, and will center around a mysterious girl who is made of fire. She steals a piece of the crystal in an effort to reignite the dying sun.

Dark Crystal sequel planned
The Jim Henson Company is planning a sequel to the 1982 fantasy film The Dark Crystal. Titled The Power of the Dark Crystal, the screenplay for the film was written by David Odell and Annette Duffy. The plan is for a 2007 release. The movie is set many years after the original, and has original characters Jen and Kira as king and queen. They must fight to save their kingdom when the crystal is split once again.
