Huston to play Welles in Fade to Black
Danny Huston is set to play Orson Welles in the political thriller Fade to Black. Oliver Parker directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with John Sayles. It's based on a book by Davide Ferrario, and occurs in 1948 Rome when Welles was starring in Black Magic. The story is fictionalized, and has Welles becoming romantically entangled with Lea Padovani, an Italian starlet. As he does so, he discovers an American plot to control the Italian elections so that the Communists cannot win power in the chaos following World War II. Paz Vega will play Padovani, and Kevin Bacon is also in talks.
