Screenwriter Weiss is Stuffed
Matthew Weiss is set to adapt the Patricia Volk memoir Stuffed: Adventures of a Restaurant Family for East of Doheny. The book looks at a century in the life of a unique family. Volk's Austrian-Jewish relatives are credited with bringing pastrami to the new world, and were also the first to stir scallions into cream cheese. They ran a variety of restaurants and eventually had a large one that was considered their mainstay, Morgen's restaurant, located in the heart of the garment district.
