Smiths hired for Son of the Gun
Fox Searchlight has hired Alex and Andrew Smith, who made the 2002 Sundance film The Slaughter Rule, to write and direct Son of the Gun. Based on the book by Alejandro Jodorowsky, the movie will be a modern-day retelling of Oedipus Rex set in Mexico City. Another difference, of course, is that in this story the protagonist has a tail and carries a six-shooter.
