Tennant Makes Date with Universal
Andy Tennant (Hitch; Ever After) has opted to direct Around the World in 80 Dates for Universal Pictures. Gwyn Lurie will rewrite the script, originally adapted from author Jennifer Cox's memoir by Jeff Rake. The story is about a British travel writer and her journey to find her soulmate. She ends up on going on dates with 80 men in 16 different countries.

Universal goes Around the World
Universal Pictures has acquired the rights to the Jennifer Cox memoir Around the World in 80 Dates, with Jeff Rake set to adapt the screenplay. Reese Witherspoon's Type A will produce, which means that the actress has first dibs at the starring role if she likes the script. The book was a bestseller in England and centers on the attempt by a British travel writer to find her soulmate. She sent her profile and her requirements for a mate to various contacts around the world, then traveled the globe, going out on dates with the top 80 contenders in 16 different countries.
