Matt Damon to play Marco Polo
Warner Bros. has set screenwriter William Monahan (Kingdom of Heaven) to handle the script for Marco Polo, based on the explorer's autobiography "Travels". The movie is a starring vehicle for Matt Damon. Polo, whose autobiography is disputed by some historians as being part fiction and tall tale, ventured further into Asia than any other Westerner previously. His travels took him 24 years and brought him into contact with Kublai Khan. Additionally, he saw many technological and societal advances in China and Mongolia.
