Amelia Bedelia headed for big screen
Universal/Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman have picked up the rights to turn the beloved children's book series Amelia Bedelia into a motion picture. Based on a series of books by Peggy Parish, the story centers on a housekeeper named Amelia, who always takes her employers' instructions very, very literally. This frequently gets her into a bit of trouble. Herman Parish, nephew of the character's creator, will write the screenplay. He has been continuing the book series even after his aunt's death.
