Columbia goes for corrupt cop film
Columbia Pictures has hired Nick Pileggi to write the screenplay for A Cop Between, a story that will be very close to a true crime tale whose aftermath is unfolding in New York now. The movie will center on a man who grows up in a mob family and joins the NYC police force as an adult. He is lured into compromising his integrity and also becomes involved in trying to save a friend from a mob war. By fictionalizing the story, which in real life centers around cop Louis Eppolito, Columbia won't have to get into a bidding war for the rights to the life stories of the principal players.
