McGuigan to helm The Equalizer
Paul McGuigan is set to direct The Equalizer for The Weinstein Co. He previously worked with the Weinsteins as he helmed Lucky Number Slevin for their company.
The Equalizer is a big-screen adaptation of the television drama that ran from 1985-1989. Edward Woodward starred in the show. The movie will be a contemporary take.

Weinsteins get The Equalizer
The Weinstein Co. has acquired rights to adapt the television show The Equalizer. The show centered on Robert McCall, a veteran secret agent who quits the CIA in an attempt to atone for his darker exploits. He runs an ad in the paper offering his assistance to people who feel as though the odds may be against them.

The Equalizer gets big screen treatment
The Equalizer, a television drama from the 1980s, will be re-imagined as a movie for the big screen. The original show starred Edward Woodward as veteran and covert operative Robert McCall. The character was searching for redemption for his dark actions of the past, and therefore quits his CIA-esque agency to help other people with their problems. Michael Sloan, the creator and executive producer of the show, will get the project off the ground by teaming with Mace Neufeld and Tony Eldridge.
