Weinsteins Take Spring Break
The Weinstein Company has acquired distribution rights for Spring Break in Bosnia in North America, Australia, and New Zealand. Warner Bros. decided not to moved forward on the film. Richard Gere and Terrence Howard are both in talks to star in the movie, about journalists in Bosnia who are mistaken for CIA agents.

Warner Independent hires Shepard
Warner Independent Pictures has hired helmer Richard Shepard, director of the Sundance hit The Matador, to write and direct the drama Spring Break in Bosnia. The story is taken from an Esquire Magazine article by Scott Anderson about journalists Sebastian Junger and John Falk. The pair made a sort of half-hearted attempt to capture Radovan Karadzic, a man who was believed to have allegedly been the architect of the ethnic cleansing in his country. The pair were mistaken for CIA agents and were almost successful in their efforts, as it turns out. Shepard will fictionalize the story some for the film.
