Sommers has Worlds Collide
Stephen Sommers has been confirmed as director/writer for the remake of the 1951 film When Worlds Collide. Steven Spielberg will produce. Paramount will produce the project as an upcoming tentpole release.

Spielberg sees Worlds Collide
Steven Spielberg has come aboard to produce a remake of When Worlds Collide for Paramount. He replaces Stephen Sommers, who had departed the project as producer/writer/director earlier this year to instead go to Fox's A Night at the Museum. Currently, it is unknown whether Spielberg is going to direct WWC. The original film was released in 1951 and was the inspiration for such movies as Deep Impact and Armageddon.

Sommers is out of this World
Stephen Sommers (The Mummy, Van Helsing) is set to write and direct a re-imagining of When Worlds Collide for Paramount Pictures. In the original 1951 film, scientists learn that another planet will be careening dangerously close to the Earth, and organize plans for a small group of humans to leave the planet before the impending collision that is bound to be extremely deadly. Sommers is expected to begin working on the screenplay immediately.
