Foxx to Produce Duff
Jamie Foxx, along with Marc Platt and his managers Jaime Rucker King and Marcus King, will produce and develop The Power of Duff for Universal. Until recently, Russell Crowe was attached to star, with Ron Howard directing and Brian Grazer producing Duff, but that threesome have moved on to other film projects. In the script by Stephen Belber, a grieving local news anchorman begins praying out loud during television broadcasts. He soon discovers that his prayers are being answered. Though Foxx is only currently set to produce the movie, there is a possibility that he will also star. He next appears in Miami Vice, opening everywhere on July 28.

Howard and Crowe to team up again
Russell Crowe and Ron Howard are looking at reuniting once again for The Power of Duff, which Universal purchased as a spec script earlier this month. It would be the third teaming for Crowe, Howard and producer Brian Grazer, who previously worked together on A Beautiful Mind and Cinderella Man.
Crowe is in negotiations to play a television news anchor who has such grief over the death of his father, he begins to pray aloud during his newscasts. Suddenly, his prayers begin to be answered and he becomes quite the eminent TV personality. Stephen Belber wrote the screenplay, and Howard would direct.
