Cast set for Butterfly follow-up
New Line Cinema has cast Erica Durance and Eric Lively in its sequel to The Butterfly Effect. No characters from the original film will return. The story will center on a time-traveling character who realizes that changes to things that have taken place in the past can have unknown consequences for the present and future. John Leonetti is directing from a screenplay by Michael Weiss. In addition to Durance and Lively, Dustin Milligan will also star. The original Butterfly Effect grossed $58 million at the domestic box office in 2004.

New Line goes for another Butterfly Effect
New Line Cinema has fast tracked a sequel to The Butterfly Effect, though Ashton Kutcher is not expected to return. The movie is planned to have all new characters and will have a similar storyline to the original, with a character who discovers he can travel through time. The movie will be directed by John Leonetti from a screenplay by Michael Weiss.
