Alex Winter on the Napster project
Paramount Pictures and MTV Films have hired Alex Winter, best known as Bill S. Preston Esq. in the Bill and Ted movies, has been hired to write the screenplay for Napster: The Shawn Fanning Bio Project. Fanning created Napster in 1999 in his own dorm room at Boston's Northeastern University, with the intent for other college students to be able to swap music files online. After dropping out of school to start Napster as an online business, numerous lawsuits were prompted, eventually shutting Napster down as it was at that time (today it is revived as a purchase music site).
