Positively Fifth Street coming to big screen
John Ridley is set to adapt and direct the adaptation of the James McManus nonfiction bestseller Positively Fifth Street, with production scheduled to begin in June. While on assignment for Harper's Magazine, McManus checked into a Vegas hotel as he was working on a feature about the World Series of Poker. He decided to use his advance on the story as an entry stake to enter the contest himself, and eventually finished in fifth place. While all this was going on, he started to follow the trial of a stripper and her lover who were accused of murdering Ted Binion, son of the casino family that founded the big tournament.
