Peter and the Starcatchers to be adapted for big screen
Disney animation has picked up the rights to the bestselling children's book Peter and the Starcatchers, by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. The company will create the film as a 3-D CGI film, which will be a prequel to Peter Pan. In the film, eight-year-old orphan boy Peter is put aboard a ship to be sent off to serve almost in slavery. He meets a young, wealthy girl named Molly, who eventually admits to him the presence of a trunk full of magical "starstuff" on the ship. She and her family descend from a long line of protectors of the starstuff, which can have odd and fantastic effects on the people and things with which it comes into contact. A battle ensues as the pirate Black Stache attempts to steal the treasure.
